1、 Certification introduction

ETL is the abbreviation of American electrical testing laboratories. ETL laboratory was founded by American inventor Edison in 1896 and enjoys a high reputation in the United States and the world.

ETL certification is required for the export of products to the United States and Canada. ETL mark indicates that the product has passed the approval test of NRTL in the United States or SCC in Canada. ETL marks are recognized to have the same effect as UL or CSA marks and comply with relevant safety standards. The product has the ETL column name flag, which means that it has met the minimum requirements of the product safety standard. In addition, the ETL logo also indicates that the manufacturer's production site meets the standard requirements of a certain range, and the continuous consistency is ensured through learning and regular follow-up factory review. ETL has been around for more than 100 years. ETL is the abbreviation of the electrical testing labs founded by the inventor Mr. Edison in 1896. ETL represents innovative, influential, independent and open product testing and rich experience.

2、 Role of ETL certification

Like UL and CSA, ETL can test and issue ETL certification mark according to UL standard or American national standard, or test and issue composite certification mark according to UL standard, American national standard, CSA Standard or Canadian standard at the same time. "Us" at the bottom right indicates that it is applicable to the United States, "C" at the bottom left indicates that it is applicable to Canada, and "us" and "C" at the same time are applicable to both countries. Etlus mark (only us, no c): safety mark for products to enter the U.S. market CETL mark (only C, no US): safety mark for products to enter the Canadian market cetlus mark: safety mark for products to enter the U.S. market and the Canadian market factory inspection of the U.S. ETL certification needs to be inspected four times, and Canada twice a year; If both are available, four times a year.

3、 ETL certification first factory review and quarterly review

1. If you are applying for ETL certification for the first time, our factory inspectors will go to the factory for the first factory review after the test is passed. The factory shall make necessary preparations, prepare product samples and relevant documents (such as specifications of parts).

2. ETL's factory inspection is a factory review of the quality control system of the factory applying for ETL certification and the approval and inspection of the main structure and main parts of your products according to the ETL report.

The review items can be broadly divided into: quality control procedures for the overall production and manufacturing process. Quality control methods, including incoming inspection and assembly procedures. All test related records or reports, test methods, instrument and equipment lists and their calibration records, test reports and relevant rectification measures. Manage the use of ETL tags.

3. If the manufacturer moves to another location after the first factory review, we will conduct the first factory review of the factory again.

4. After the first factory review, we will conduct a quarterly review of the factory every quarter. If there are some key parts in your previous ETL report that have not been listed by the national accreditation Laboratory (NRTL), we will select the parts for annual review during the quarterly review.

4、 Fees for ETL certification

ETL certification fee mainly consists of the following parts:

1. Testing fee (depending on different products); You can send the product picture to the testing agency to evaluate the quotation for you;

2. First factory review fee: RMB 2500 (plus travel expenses);

3. Quarterly follow-up factory review fee: RMB 1530 per quarter (plus travel expenses);

4. Quarterly certificate license fee: 1670 yuan per quarter;

5. Annual fee for self printing labels: RMB 3500;

6. Annual fee for multiple listing (how to apply): RMB 1800 for each multiple listing;

7. Control number reopening fee: 2450rmb;

8. The above ETL follow-up service fees can be charged by control number;

For the key parts that have not been inspected and listed by the national accreditation Laboratory (NRTL), the organization will require random testing and annual review of the parts, and the expenses incurred will also be borne by the applicant or relevant companies.

5、 Data required for ETL certification:

1. Circuit schematic diagram (please note that its parameters must be consistent with those on the nameplate and manual)

2. Printed circuit layout, part location drawing

a. Products with electronic circuits must be provided

b. If the electronic switch, dimmer and other electronic components have been certified, this item may not be provided.

3. Instruction manual in English (the instruction manual must contain the manufacturer's name or trademark, model, parameters, installation method and necessary safety warnings.)

4. Model difference statement (if there are multiple models in the same series, the similarities and differences between the accumulated models must be clear. The statement must be signed and sealed.)

5. Nameplate

6. Product installation structure diagram / explosion diagram (please indicate the number and name of each part.)

7. List of key parts (the list must be signed and sealed)

a. The format is as follows and the parts are listed in sequence corresponding to the codes in the explosion diagram;

b. Fill in one sheet for each series of products. If a component is only applicable to a specific model, please indicate.

8. Copies of certificates of important components and parts related to safety (the certificates shall be provided according to the requirements of "key parts list", and the number on the certificates shall be checked to see whether the parameters are consistent with the actual samples.)

6、 Requirements for ETL nameplate

1. What is the control number?

Control number refers to ETL control number issued by Intertek. It consists of 7 digits and corresponds to the combination of the unique applicant and the manufacturer. For example, if the same manufacturer a and different applicants B and C have applied for ETL, a and B need a control number, and a and C also need a control number. 2. Nameplate requirements:

The control number shall be placed under the etlus/cetl/cetlus column name mark corresponding to the nameplate.

In addition, the ETL nameplate also has the following requirements: the nameplate must have the manufacturer name or trademark, model, electrical specification and etlus/cetl/cetlus listing mark; It is recommended to use the flag provided by Intertek. You can enlarge or reduce the ETL column name flag in equal proportion, but you cannot change its design; The color of the sign can be 100% black or the color number is pms185 red; Relevant standards shall be indicated, as shown in the figure above: "forms to American standards, certified to Canadian Standards"; The nameplate material must have a material certificate, and the printed copy and material sample can be provided; The pasting position must be marked.
